A tsunami siren that went off shortly after 11:50 a.m. Tuesday was a false alarm, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense Administrator Darryl Oliveira.

The siren sounded for about two minutes Tuesday, a day after the regular, monthly test. Oliveira said he was not sure what tripped the alarm.

“I’m not sure if it was maintenance workers or what at this point,” he said. “We’re working to find out.”
